The Council is consulting regarding yellow lines in the local area. There are notices on the lamp posts stating that we are currently in this process until the 11th January 2007. If they get their way it may well lead to the introduction of a Controlled Parking Zone and the requirement to pay for parking locally.
Formal Consultation does not mean that this is a vote or a referendum. However, Our MP Stephen Hammond has said that the will of the majority will prevail. The Residents’ Association has asked to discuss their proposals with the Council to reduce the impact of the restrictions without affecting road safety and the Council has ignored our requests so far.
They will only come to a discussion if we ALL write and tell them “NO! We do not want these yellow lines” and we must give lots of good reasons
We should reject their proposals.
Please write a letter of objection to

Your reasons for objection could be from the following (Choose at least two)
Yellow lines will increase the speed of traffic and cause more accidents
Yellow lines will increase the speed of traffic and endanger horse riders, walkers and cyclists
Yellow lines will increase the speed of traffic and endanger the vulnerable elderly and children
Yellow lines will reduce the amount of parking for the elderly who need their cars
Yellow lines will reduce the available space for parking and cause an overflow of cars into other areas
Yellow lines will detract from this beautiful area.
The reduction in available parking space may discourage visitors from an area of outstanding natural beauty
This whole process is a further waste of tax payers’ money
There is no history of traffic accidents in the area in living memory
